It was day one on the job and January was nervous. Of course, she had already been at work trying to organize things to her liking and trying to pick up where the previous department head had left off (which was proving difficult), but today was the day that she would officially meet the employees of the level. That was mildly nerve-wracking. She wanted them to like her, but at the same time... it was okay if they didn't. She was their boss now.
Wow, that was weird to say.
Early for the meeting, January had some papers up at the front of the conference room table. Hot tea was in the middle of the table, as well as some breakfast pastries, because she was sure there were a few employees who would skip breakfast to be on time.
Sipping her tea and standing behind her chair, January waited for her employees to arrive... semi-patiently. |
