Where Are They Now?
Minister Edition: Catching up with Althea Scabior

March, 2095
by: Andrew Chae

It seems like just yesterday Althea Scabior was elected as Minister for Magic in 2090, racing to the tops of the polls and winning in a landslide victory after a very successful campaign. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and due to a recently implemented law concerning term limits that came in to affect before Scabior's term began, she was unable to run for re-election after serving her term. The new law prohibits candidates - regardless of their popularity or ability to win another election - from running after their term, and so it was with heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to Minister Scabior, but that certainly doesn't mean she decided to retire from public life entirely!

In fact, Ms. Scabior has been extremely busy with her side projects since leaving. Ever the public servant, she continues to represent Great Britain on the International Confederation of Wizards. The Schirmer-Fawley Foundation still continues to provide funding to Hogwarts graduates pursuing higher education. As she continues her very important work outside the Minister's office, it is imperative that we continue to grow on the foundations she set while she was in office. No profile of our former Minister would be complete without looking at the great strides she made while in office - her eagerness to help bridge the gap between the muggle and magical world, community support for squibs and more awareness about our impact on the environment were all addressed during her time in office. It is vital that we, as citizens, continue to address these issues as a thank you to our great former Minister.

Another question on everyone's mind - will this new law concerning term limits help or hurt the wizarding world? That is a conversation for another day. We are all eagerly waiting to see what our new Minister, Morgan P. Nickels, is going to do with his term and how he will continue to build on the foundations Ms. Scabior provided for him. As a WADA graduate, we know he will definitely make it entertaining!

For now, however, we can only say thank you to Althea Scabior for her time as Minister, and remember her fondly and continue her legacy.
