Open post! Who wants to play chess with us??? x3 Jedi Master•General Iroh•Java Junkie• King ♛ Stefan •Mycroft Holmes•Dragon Lord•Druid Boy He needed a break. Jace can already feel the dull ache forming at the base of his neck, and he was sure it'll only get worse if he didn't stand up, walk around...and do something else entirely other than solving endless curse-breaking problems. Letting his feet carry him to wherever, Jace soon found himself exploring the castle. It was, after all, his last year so he might as well make the most out of it.
It took him a while to get to the lower floors, and after a dozen doors or so, he discovered the underground chamber where...yes, it felt oddly familiar. It was one of those staple History of Magic lectures that literally came to life. How in Merlin's brilliant mind did he not think about exploring this place early on? He felt chills run down his spine at the thought of standing in a historic place. This was where it all started, wasn't it? The legends walked through those doors and explored the same room he's in! Even Voldemort, and the fallen Ravenclaw Professor Quirrell was here too.
Jace took his time looking around the place, careful not to disturb the relics found there. This might be his only opportunity to see this place in person, and so he took his time etching every detail in his memory bank.
Pushing another door open, he found himself in a dusty room...filled with broken chess pieces. "Dear...Merlin," he murmured as he looked at the floor and slowly lifted his gaze on the giant pieces that were still standing. They were all very still, but somehow, it felt like they were calling him to play. Fully aware of how wizarding chess goes, Jace felt the urge to decline the tempting offer...but curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to know if the pieces were still playable. It was, after all, a work of Transfiguration art so he ought to try it.
Quietly commanding a pawn forward, the piece did not move. It only took Jace a few minutes to figure out that he needed to repair the missing pieces to activate the whole board. The Ravenclaw sighed, declaring that it will take him a while before he could even play. Placing his book bag on the floor and procuring his wand, the Ravenclaw began to rebuild the broken pieces, one by one. "Reparo."
