His tone of voice didn't make it feel like she was going to be in trouble. But one could never know. She hoped that she wasn't going to in trouble, because that would really suck.
She was about to answer his question when suddenly a house elf was swatting her with his broom. "Hey!"" The blonde said, shaking her head. "Don't do that. It's not nice!" And why couldn't she come here? Rude house elf.

"Algamus, my dear chap..." he started, with as much friendliness towards the elf as he could muster. "Could you just hold this for me a minute? Super important school business you see." He reached into his robes, and, for lack of any better items upon his person, pulled out a collapsible cauldron. A light flick of his wrist, and it started to take shape. Oh look, and it even had some of the potion he'd last been brewing in it still! Hmm...a slightly pungent one at that. He held it out for the house elf to take.
"Harriet and I just need to check on something for class right there in the kitchen. We won't be two ticks."

She was always polite, and kept things tidy when she was in the kitchen. So she was totally not at fault. But she was glad Professor Noble was here, and that he could clearly think of his feet. That was a good quality, and one she probably needed to work on. Just in case this situation happened again.
"Oh yes" The blonde nodded, playing along. "Very important class matter...."
Of course it had to be one of the older studentsies to be all polite and sweet and scolding him, but Algamus didn't care. Nor was he phased with Professor Noble's friendliness, because who called him 'my dear chap'? Certainly not Mr New Professor. The senior elf made a face when the Potions master handed him one his brews, which was quite awful smelling, if Algamus did say so himself.
"I am not your servant" Really, he should get Toddles to do it; that little baby elf was eager to do just about anything. Delicately holding out away from him, he set on the broom bristles to balance it out and leaned against the stone wall, watching the two interact and quietly observing.
