Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Closing Thread (Sorry for lack of detail...had to retype it twice! ;() Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Gaston listened carefully as Miss Paton answered his question. He smiled, giving her an approving nod. "Ah, yes. Simple yet effective. Nicely done, Miss Paton!" he said. He watched her go, slightly surprised she hadn't taken her mouse with her. "You're quite welcome!
Goodbye, miss Paton!"
It seemed Miss Diggory had a different false memory in mind, and her answer earned her a beam from the professor. He probably wouldn't have thought to make the mouse think the cake was poisoned. "What a creative solution, Miss Diggory! I'm impressed," he said. "You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!"
Gaston raised a skeptical eyebrow as Miss McNally said everything was fine. He didn't entirely believe it, but he couldn't force her to tell him what was bothering her. He nodded, giving her a sympathetic smile as she got up. "Have a nice rest of the day, Miss McNally!"
Then he focused his attention on the group of students (Emmalyn, Night, Kye, Zita, and Daniel) who wanted their mice animated. He turned first to Miss Walsh, as she'd been the first to show interest in keeping her mouse. "This won't hurt Rose," he promised, pointing his wand at the little pink mouse. "Animate permanens." He nodded in reply to Miss Atwater and Miss Valla's requests. "Of course, ladies," he said, and he performed the spell again on each ot the Slytherins' mice.
Goodness, Miss Dixon certainly had a lot of questions! Gaston couldn't help but smile at her curiosity. "No, the mouse isn't exactly alive; it just moves and behaves like a real mouse," he replied. "The animation charm can only cause its target to move in a certain level - or in more complex cases, give it a small level of sentience - not actually give it life." He smiled. "Yes, I suppose the spell I used at the beginning of class is similar to the one used on chocolate frogs." He performed the permanent animation spell on her little green mouse, then turned his attention to the dogs on the hat he was shown. "You can,
but it would probably be best to use a simpler animation charm than the one used on the mice. Otherwise, the dogs on your hat would behave a bit too much like real dogs and be difficult to control. If you want to learn more about animation charms, you're welcome to come to my office sometime, MIss Dixon."
Gaston lifted his wand, poised to animate Mr. Yoon's mouse, but stopped as the boy mentioned doing it himself. "Of course, Mr. Yoon," he said with a smile. "Just come to my office later, and I'll teach you." The next question made him smile. "No, that's not necessary. These mice can eat or drink if you want to feed and water them, but they won't die if you don't because they were never really alive. It's probably a good idea to keep them in a cage, though, to protect them from any cats who might want to play with animated mouse." OOC: This has been so much fun, but I have to close the thread now.
If your charries have more questions, just send them to Gaston's office.
