It was time to finish her hat. She watched Professor Stewart demonstrate and deftly followed along. She tucked, folded, and pinned like it was second nature. Reading her machine for free arm sewing, she placed her hat in proper position. Emmalyn then decided on a zigzag stitch over a straight stitch to give the hat a little more give. She lightly pressed her foot on the pedal to start the machine off, removing pins as she went around.

After removing the hat from the machine, it was time to stitch the top corners together. She thought for a moment about doing on the sewing machine, but her grandmother had always told her that hand stitching would hold up better in the long run and was worth the extra time. She selected some thread and grabbed a needle from the table. Her stitches were tight and precise and only moments later she was able to flip her hat right side out and pop it on her head.

She loved her new hat. It was so soft and warm. Perfect for the cold winter weather that was just around the corner. She especially loved how she could pull it down, just over her ears, to keep the cool breezes out.

"Professor Stewart? I'm finished and I'd be happy to help anyone if they need it." Her smile was genuine and her servants heart hope someone would need some help finishing up.
