But he didn't understand the turmoil of emotion the teenagers he taught went through and was a firm believer of 'if anything is wrong, they'll tell me'. Naive perhaps. Or maybe he just didn't have much Ravenclaw in him.
"Well, I'd prefer keeping Erik as a Reserve." 'Minimal effort but still part of the team' - Not really the attitude he was looking for in a team player. "If you're sure of this decision then I'll change the roster and put Miss Quinn as Chaser." She was fast, quite agile. It would be good. Not as good as having Jessa but the choice was all hers.
He brushed off his robe. "I can fly by the Pitch and change the Noticeboard right now before I have to attend to some other duties. Would you like me to?"
One last chance for her to back out. In the end, her decision was final and no matter how much he wanted her on the team, he wouldn't be forcing anyone.
Was it bad that she was mildly amused at the man's refusal to properly put Erik on the team? For the longest while she thought she'd been the only one to see the boy for what he was, making it refreshing when Professors up and did things like this. Merlin Knew Professor Hirsch got an earful from her every few days and she wasn't naive enough to miss the way Erik put in his own complaints about her. It had kinda become their thing, hadn't it? But really it was good he wasn't fooling the adults in this place too much.
"Yeah, I'm sure Teresa will do a good job too." Pretty much anyone that wasn't her would've done a better job. The man could've told her he was animating a sack of flour to replace her and she'd still applaud the idea.
It all had her wondering yet again WHY she'd thought trying out would've been a good idea? Any illusion of it being fun had long since been crushed by the rising tides of anxiety. Was a sport meant to be so stressful? Merlin knew cutting open dead birds and kneazles was less nerve wracking.
"I'd like that, thank you." Him going to change it before it became too late and she started worrying about it too much more. "And.....sorry for wasting your time like this." Trying out and having him put her on the team just to be taken off. It probably wasn't a good luck, even she could see that. "I'll give it a lot more thought before trying out in future. More practice too." And likely a dose of anti-anxiety meds, nevermind that those weren't the sort she technically needed.
