But he wasn't even properly dancing in the script from what he could see on the list...though he was sure that he could always ask to include a dance number. Derf didn't particularly LIKE showcasing himself, but he was kinda proud of himself for being a bit of a triple threat and, well, he wanted to dance and move around on stage.
Was why he had auditioned for...
"The Scarecrow," he said, answering his friend's question as he smiled over at her. He knew what she meant, but it wasn't a competition on who got a bigger role or what - he wasn't jealous of anyone, not really - but it was like when you saw this bowl of ice cream and you THOUGHT it was strawberry but then when you popped it in your mouth you found out that it was peppermint. Just a shock to the system, yeah? "My monologue was even one from the character," he added a bit sheepishly with a small chuckle. "Figure I may as well try to take advantage of my lack of coordination, you know?"
Somehow getting his hand to stay OUT of his hair, he slid them both back into his pockets and turned properly towards his fellow fourth year. "You didn't audition?" The scarecrow. "Ah, I see." She nodded and imagined if Derf had gotten that part. Well.... perhaps he could've nailed it too but since Diandra had never seen him acting so this might be an invalid opinion. But deep down she thought that the Hufflepuff prefect as Glinda would be perfect since he did have some of the character's traits... Oh, maybe that's the reason why Professor Myers chose him to be Glinda.
As he asked if she went to the audition, Diandra gave him a sheepish smile. "Ah, I didn't." She answered as she tucked her hair behind ear. "I've never been in a play before and... I don't think it really suits me?" She was rather shy in front of people and it's a little bit of struggle for her to speak in front of several people, let alone going on a stage performing something. Although back in primary school, she once played a solo flute on school performance. But it was different since it was music and she had been playing that instrument since she was young whereas acting was just a whole new thing for her.
