Patrick grabbed some plaid fleece and looked at the pattern, he liked plaid it was a statement pattern. Something that caught peoples eye. He wasn’t sure it would turn out okay. Usually his Mamaw had him help with straight stitching her quilts since her fingers had too much arthritis in them to make sewing easy.

He first laid the pieces pattern facing right sides. Then doing as she had told them, measured out 24 inches by fifteen inches. He was ready to cut. He began cutting and then went on to do the six inches for the cuff. He wasn’t sure how he’d like the cuff. Usually when he wore winter hats back in the states it was rare and he didn’t have a cuff. But alas, he wouldn’t complain since he was getting to do something fun in class this term.He unfolded the fabric and had them wrong sides together. Now he was going to be putting the hat together. Ah Placing the small piece together, he placed them under the machines needle. Foot on the pedal he began to sew forward then making it go to a back stitch before sewing all the way down the seem just like she had said. Time to do the other one. He did the same step but didn’t back stitch at the very bottom of the straight line. He wasn’t sure he was actually doing it right but he was having fun and that was the best part about this course.

Laying his hands in his lap he waited for the next set of instructions hoping that it would turn out to be a pretty neat hat.
