He had sorta gotten into the swing of prefecting stuff - sort of...at least he had the right badge now thanks to a talk with Professor Myers and all that - and he was BEYOND jazzed about quidditch things. Starting beater alongside Kimi - who he admittedly did not know all THAT much about but this gave him a good opportunity to do that. Though the brief encounter he and Emmalyn had had during tryouts sorta had made him keen on trying to play alongside her in the position. They had had good communication and stuff but he was sure she would make an awesome chaser with Hattie (STILL WORRIED) and Isa, of course. Scarlett for keeper was exciting as well, but he was kinda the MOST excited about Bel making seeker - no offense to anyone else but it was nice having a strong personal connection with someone in that position because of what being a beater MEANT and stuff. He had already been talking loads of strategy with Isa since summer, but it had been super SUPER awesome to kick things up a notched recently now that the team was set.

Prefecting, being a confused teenager, and quidditch aside...lessons and homework and tutoring some in Creatures made one one very busy and distracted Derf...which meant he kinda sorta toooooootally forgot about the play auditions. Which was quite something given how traumatic things had been LAST term and he had had a good long think over whether or not to audition to begin with.

It really wasn't until he saw Farah peeking at the bulletin board and then skipping away that he was reminded about the cast list...and his bright blues narrowed on the sheet stuck to it that his friend had been looking at.

HOLY FLAMING SALAMANDERS! WAS THAT IT?!

Darting forward while pulling Scamander from his pocket (you know, for moral support) Derf's eyes INSTANTLY went to the part he had auditioned specifically for (the Scarecrow) and..........his face dropped. It was kind a cruel and ironic choice casting Olivia there since, well, the last time the older Gryffindor had taken a fall .....the Hufflepuff gave a bit of a shiver at the memory but knew she would do a great job. She was limber and stuff and always gave her full effort into everything she did...so he couldn't really be upset about that.

Still, his little heart sank a bit and he figured he ought to just start at the top and work his way down. Junia for Dorothy seemed...incredibly fitting and it brought a small smile to his face. Though he didn't think her to be as naive as his image of the character was, so it would be super neat to see her interpretation and own personality bring something SPECIAL to the character. Stasya for Aunt Em was adorable and very fitting for his friend's motherly aura. At least when she was around creatures. Seeing her handling Albus and well...any creature really always made him smile. Skylar for Uncle Henry seemed sorta fitting...at least what he remembered of the bloke being kinda judgey and set in his opinions. Pretty fitting really. Julie for the Tin Man...hmmm...Derf wasn't sure what to think about THAT since the Tim Man wanted a heart and Julie seemed to have one of those since she was kind and friendly and like...SUPER friendly with people. He had heard some stuff from Jessa, you know? Maybe it was a search for love when it came to one Julie Bellaire then.

Though Derf gave his hair some heavy duty ruffling thinking about that because um...no more complicated thoughts, please?

Either way, Julie would be brilliant, he was sure and it would be neat to see her play off Olivia's Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion of....

"ABEY!"

He couldn't help himself. He was SO excited! THIS WAS PERFECT CASTING! AND NOT IN A MEAN WAY AT ALL! BECAUSE THE LION ALWAYS HAD HIS COURAGE ALL ALONG AND JUST NEEDED TO LEARN THAT HIMSELF AND SDLFJDLKJFSJLSJFSLSJSFLJSFLSJ! NOT TO MENTION THE INNOCENCE AND JUST THE WAY ABEY THOUGHT ABOUT HIMSELF AND OTHER AND JUST...ABEY WAS THIS LION RIGHT DOWN TO BEING A GRYFFINDOR! Derf wanted to go find Abey and tackle him and ......... stuff......... and he nearly bolted from the bulletin board to do just before recalling that he still hadn't found his name soooooooo down the list he went. Though now he was BOUNCING as he read through the list and, honestly, didn't really care now if he was not cast at all.

Hanna...he was not familiar with her...nor was he with the role of the Crow...but he reckoned it would be good in any case. Olivia and her, it would be fun to watch. Zoryn...as the Wicked Witch of the East. Um...didn't she DIE in like...the very beginning? Maybe Professor Myers was trying to teach her a lesson in patience seeing as, you know, she had been the GROUND last term and now a role where she got killed off right away but a house...and lay on the GROUND during most of her performance. Professor Marvel portrayed by Ronan...he could see it. Hattie as Toto would be ADORABLE and he was grinning thinking about it. Hattie and Junia as a duo....like...that was a nice image.

"Hey...that's....ME?"

Derf had to take another moment or two as he saw his name on the list. As........Glinda? Suddenly all the questions and jeering looks about bubblegum pink he had been getting in the corridors made sense and Derf, honestly, was not sure WHAT to think about that. Pleased he was cast, of COURSE, Derf's finger rest on his name riiiiiiiiiiiiight under Glinda's and he just..sorta needed to process this for a second, okay?
Hogwarts was.... not that bad. Well, except how huge the castle was that made her often get lost many times. Diandra had to make herself a simple map and some little notes on her journal. That's why she had never left without the journal. Aside from the place itself, the people here were.... nice, she could say. But still, the badger had a difficulty to make friends because... Well, she was shy and at the some times she tend not to trust people easily which was kind of ironic, Di. Anyway she's trying and hopefully she could survive the social life of Hogwarts and slowly adjusting herself.

After spending time in a library, the badger decided to get some food at the great hall. It wasn't really late for grabbing a meal, was it? Diandra often got lost in time when she was in library and didn't realize that she had been there for hours until her stomach grumbling. While she headed to the great hall, she noticed a familiar blonde guy looking at the bulletin board. Oh wait, how could she never noticed about this board before? Never mind, that wasn't the point. "Hey." Diandra greeted him and smiled. What was he looking at, by the way? Oh right, there was an audition for Wizard of the Oz play that Professor Myers had announced before and apparently the cast list had been announced.

Oh, did he join the cast audition? She didn't know that. But then his name was seen on the cast list.... as Glinda the good witch. Well, that didn't sound bad. "Way to go, Derf." Even though he got woman role but she didn't think it was a huge problem.
