Cause she ate a lot of those.
Of course, she was also low-key terrified that if she ever did anything worthwhile as a Quidditch player she may one day be remembered as unfavourably as Uric the Oddball. It would probably be a joke that she did that would haunt her into an afterlife as a ghost in Hogwarts.
She could only smile at the boy commented he was glad she was enjoying being in the nursery, but when he had brought up her hair she laughed. "I can feel it," she commented lightly, not bothered by the fact that the baby was messing with it it was anyway a lost cause because she lacked the time to put in an anti frizz potion. "Besides it isn't the first and it probably won't be the last baby to take an interest in my hair..." and at least it didn't have hands. Human babies could tug hair really hard. "Although I'm starting to think that this little one is very hungry," Shera added. It would explain all the nibbles. And at least Daehyun had found the snacks for them so they could give them some more food. "Mmm," he hummed with a nod at what Shera had said about Ulric the Oddball, and added, "He had fifty Augureys, and you can imagine what they sounded like on a rainy day." He smiled at the cuddly bird in his hands at that though, since he was probably mad enough to consider them endearing. "And when they all cried together, he'd thought he died and became a ghost. It's said that he ended up giving himself a concussion when he tried to move through a wall." He wasn't called Oddball for nothing.
Absently petting the small Augurey, Daehyun winced when she'd told him about the interest babies showed in her hair, wondering if she was talking about human babies. Because if she was, he couldn't really imagine what she was going through. "Tie it back, maybe, for safety purposes?" he asked, though he liked the curled mess that was her hair but he wouldn't admit it, unless he wanted to turn into a dying squid again.
At her final statement, he held the Augurey in one hand, close to his chest to shield it and keep it from falling, holding the jar of insects up in the other hand. Uncaring that his robe might get dirty in the process, he sat cross-legged on the floor right there, the bird in his lap, and opened the jar for Shera to grab some. He silently looked at her and waited for a reaction, unsure of what to say - whether she minded touching the insects or not, since he'd seen some gloves on the same shelves, but at the same time didn't want to insult her for offering. So far she'd proven she was different from everything he'd expected her to be, which was why he'd decided to stay silent.
... and didn't notice the little rascal on his lap that had spotted the treats, slowly inching forward towards the jar. |
