Partly he was also avoiding a straight answer, because he didn't want to hear that she'd been spending time with him out of courtesy, but then he'd soon brightened up when Shera hadn't complained about the robe he'd draped over her, and smiled back as she adjusted the hood that he'd sloppily pulled up.
Agreeing with her point of view, Daehyun hummed lightly in response to her words as he listened attentively, his eyebrows once again disappearing behind his hair as they lifted in interest when she'd mentioned it had all started with Quidditch. Soon frowning when realization kicked in, he said, "Now that you mention it, I've never thought about when and how Quidditch actually came to be." She didn't need to know that he had a copy of Quidditch Through the Ages at home, but skipped straight to the rules and his favourite team.
"I'd say so, too," he agreed that thestrals would be cautious with strangers, but he was still looking forward to meeting and befriending one, and as eager as he was to see them, he also wasn't due to the means to see them. "Is he your only brother?" he asked as she'd mentioned what sounded to him like a younger brother, but he wasn't too sure.
"Augureys are birds that need a lot of love, if you ask me," he said with a smile. "They're just-sad, and wailing whenever rain is approaching." Would be helpful to have one, instead of having to look at the weather forecast. "Since you're the polar opposite, I'd say you'd be good with one. Unless it makes you sad-then I forbid it," he joked, but he was serious as well. It was probably her brightness that he liked the most about her, so he wasn't going to let anything change it if he could help it.
"Well Quidditch has a really long history, but it's existed in it's current form for hundreds of years already! So it's not really surprising that people don't really think about the fact that it has previously changed," Shera began really excitedly.
"I mean it's probably inspired by like 5 different ancient games and the oldest form of what you'd consider Quidditch was recorded in 1050 in Queerditch Marsh... you know that's where it got it's name from? Except back then it was on broomsticks that were more like trees and tress were also what was used for scoring purposes... and you're probably not interested in any of this..."
She finished as she realised she had started rambling, far too excited about the topic. Shera needed to chill. But especially with Quidditch, that was hard to do. No matter how tired, it always made her perk up and she was energetic and ready to go.
"When you come over you should meet the threstrals, you might not be able to see them but you'll still be able to get to know them. Like I said my brother knows them all even though he can't see them," and then Daehyun would still experience how gentle the threstrals could be.
"Yep, it's just the two of us," she smiled at the thought of her brother, who was definitely a cutie and he was the main thing she missed about being at home.
"Although, we're really close with our cousins as well."
And none of them were considering going to Hogwarts like she had.
These Augureys sounded like interesting animals. She couldn't help but laugh at his joking that he would forbid her from having a creature like that.
"My parents always joke that it would be impossible for me to be sad." Shera wasn't sure if that was actually true, but she couldn't remember ever being sad...
