Night had studied the houses a little bit when she found out she was going to Hogwarts and not Ilvermorny, and she wasn't really surprised she got Hufflepuff. She was kind of a boring person, not brave or sly or incredibly smart. She knew Hufflepuff wasn't supposed to be the "boring" house, but at the moment she couldn't remember the qualities of her new house, except for "Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders."
She sat down and studied her House flag above her. She didn't really feel like a badger, but then again, she didn't really feel like a snake or a lion or an eagle either. And, she was a little confused about the symbols for Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. What exactly did an eagle and a badger mean? A lion for Gryffindor, she understood, because lions were brave, and snakes were sneaky. But for the houses she had heard were lesser appreciated, she just didn't get their animals.
Looking around at the table, she realized everyone was older than her. She wished someone would talk to her, because she wasn't good about making the first move.
