It wasn't long before the hall started to fill up, this time with the arrival of the Headmistress herself. "Good evening, Regina. I take it you had a good summer?" Which seemed to be the question of the evening. Though, on second thought, the man also had another question he'd been meaning to ask and the Headmistress was just the person to ask this from. So, he took a moment to clear his throat before asking in the most innocent way possible, "Would you like to have a Hershey's kiss, by the way? You know, while we wait for the feast to begin..."

What? It was an innocent enough question.

Before he could listen out for an answer from her, the arrival of someone else to the Dias grabbed his attention and he.... paused. And blinked. "Good evening, Ignatius, and welcome to the team. Are you.... okay?" Because, whether he was trying not to draw attention to it or not, that limping hadn't exactly gone unnoticed. Just saying.

Something he could always count on was Laurel and her positivity. Even if, something told him that her gift for seeing things others couldn't see probably came with some knock to her emotions. At least, it would for him if he was in her shoes. But there was hardly any time to mention this, not when the woman was talking about her summer, which sparked his interest. "The Mediterranean! That sounds like an amazing way to spend your summer." Sun, sand and no school to speak of. It sounded like a nice combination to him. "Mine wasn't as eventful as last summer but still pretty great. I spent some time in Germany, visiting my mum and sisters, and some in the States. I think the time off was needed."

It wasn't long before another Head of House entered the now-filling Hall and approached the Dias. Green eyes flew over towards Gaston and...... he smiled. Sympathetically. While a part of him thought it must be less distracting to not have your wife here, he also figured it was pretty saddening to have to walk in and not see that familiar face. But then again, what did he know about marriage? "Hey, Gaston. How's it going?" A question that was posed innocently enough.

Sparkling?

Sparkling?!

Hirsch..... paused. And blinked at the arrival of the new History of Magic professor. Eccentric didn't seem to be enough to cover the man's personality but he wasn't exactly about to mention that. Instead, he smiled in the direction of Charles, the faint outline of a dimple showing. "Evening, Charles, and welcome to the team. Are you looking forward to the new year?" It was an exciting prospect, even if it came with a ton of marking and misbehaviour that he probably didn't want to think about just yet.

Was it just him or did Tristan seem happier than usual today? Not that it was a bad thing, mind you, but the man couldn't help but think of a series of possibilities as to why that was, none of which were suitable for the feast. Anyways. "Good evening, Tristan. I take it you had a good summer?" Pause. "Nice leather jacket, by the way." Very rebellious, if he could say so himself.

The Hall was steadily starting to fill up more and more and, with that, came the arrival of the last new member of staff. Hirsch adjusted his glasses slightly as he smiled in Celestia's direction before responding with a simple, "Good evening, Celestia, and welcome to the team. Are you excited about the upcoming year?" He.... didn't need to introduce himself, did he? No? Good.

Kalen deciding not to elaborate on his summer didn't earn any questions from the Defence Professor but it did cause him to raise his eyebrows slightly. "Good to hear," Really. "I enjoyed my break as well but, now that the new year has started, I can't help but feel as though it wasn't long enough." Though, there was a point during the summer where he was more than ready to start teaching again.

And how many people thought River was his boyfriend? When had this rumour become public knowledge?
