Exiting onto Platform 9 3/4 had to be one of the strangest things Emmalyn had ever done. The past month had been a strange blur of firsts. From the moment her letter arrived, her world had been turned upside down. She wished, more than anything, that her parents could be with her. She knew that there was no way possible for that to happen, but her already homesick heart wanted what it couldn't have. She wondered how she was going to make it the entire school year without seeing, or hearing, from them. "No. I can't do this right now. I can't lose it before I get on that train."

Straightening her luggage on her cart and brushing away a single tear, Emmalyn slowly pushed forward towards the very train that would shuttle her to her new life. "Excu.." she paused to choke back the tears that were strangling her voice. "Excuse me? Would anyone be able to tell me where I should board the train?"
