Anything that could keep his mind distracted AND make him feel useful was time well spent these days. In the aftermath of the Room of Requirement, being called a hindrance point blank to his face, the Hufflepuff had really struggled not relapsing in to his quivering and shattered soul self that had been after the Monster events of his first year. But it was impossible and the nightmares were coming back and the nearly 14-year-old felt as worthless as ever. Which was why he had been spending almost excessive amounts of time down here in the Creatures area. This was the ONE thing he knew how to do and do WELL. Tending to the fire salamanders had almost become an obsession for him and that rabidly eager gleam was more than prominent in the Hufflepuff's eyes as he knocked on the professor's door.
Like...lots of knocking. Enthusiastically pleading for the man to open up QUICK.
