Soo she'd come into Honeydukes to celebrate the almost-here first Christmas with her guardian, mhm.
Plus, she was running out of chocolate frogs. And that would be the worst thing EVER so Honeydukes was totally a necessary stop. Yup. It had nothing to do with the second year being all excited to see what new sweets the shop might have out for the season, or looking for prank sweets that weren't too terrible. The last ones would be for James if he decided to wake them all up in the middle of the night or something. The thought of a friendly prank war with James brought a small smile to the twelve-year-old's face as she bounced into the shop.
Before she'd even looked at the shelves, though, she noticed that there was some new fudge out and stuff with samples!! Free sweets were totally the best kind ever, so Emmeline bounced right over -- and finally noticed that her Head of House was already standing by the display. She gave him a biiig grin and called, "Hiiii, Professor!" out over the noise. Complete with a friendly wave, in case he somehow didn't see her standing a few feet away from him. With a piece of the sample fudge she'd picked up and instantly been distracted from waving in the air.
Gaston was distracted from the candy displays when he saw one of his ickle Lion cubs standing nearby. His bright blue eyes lit up when he saw who it was.
"Hello, Miss Sparkes," he greeted, returning her wave with one of his own. The big grin on her face made him laugh a little. It was nice to see her happy! Or acting happy, as the case may be... Between the events of the summer and the incident in Hirsch's class (not to mention the detention from Paul), he was really worried about her!
Thinking of all she'd been through made him sad. He shook his head to clear the bad thoughts and pretended to be interested in the fudge display for a moment until he could look back at her without his face betraying too much of his emotions.
"What flavor fudge is that?" he asked, gesturing toward the sample she had.
"Maybe you can help me pick out a Christmas present for someone..." Though he didn't say
whose present it was... somehow he doubted she would like the idea of his father getting a present!
"If you were going to give somebody fudge, which flavor would you pick?"
