Wait a minute. Was he under the impression that she didn't know to plant things? Woah not cool! "I've planted before," she said hastily to correct any idea that she didn't know how to dig a hole. 'I just wanted to see how you-" meaning Tenacius, "-put the seeds in, like, what is your style. My mom used to put four seeds at a time in every hole in case one or two didn't sprout."

And then he asked if she was alright. She blinked, wondering if it was that obvious. "Um...I'm okay," she answered, not considering this to be a lie since it wasn't like she was in the middle of a tragedy or anything. Had he seen the makeup on her hands? "Do you think there are gnomes in this garden?" Meanwhile she craned her head to look and see if there any gloves she could protect her hands with.
