From the FOREST?" That last bit had managed to reach past all the nerves and fear in the second year's mind, 'cause the forest was realllllly interesting. Especially the unicorns and loads and loads of creatures that lived in there. She and Stasya really wanted to go back into the forest -- properly this time, with a teacher -- to try and find the unicorn family from Ancient Runes they'd seen last term.
But all of the excitement and interesting stuff about the forest would have to wait, really. Emmeline shuffled from foot to foot, biting her lip and eventually blurted out: "I--I dunno what happened, sir. Sirius has chizpurfles and I put him back in his kennel so they wouldn't get the other cruppies but I couldn't get them out of his fur and I dunno how he got them in the first place." And she had to stop there, 'cause her voice was cracking. She was half-convinced that Professor Wayland would take the cruppy away from her for this; the cruppy that had been all that kept her going during parts of last term and the rougher parts of adjusting to living with Cami over the summer. But it wasn't like she could just leave her cruppy with the bug-like magical creatures on him, either. And Cami was allllll the way in the castle, and chizpurfles got on augureys too and there were babies in the infant creature barn... Maybe leaving Sirius there hadn't been the best idea ever, but he'd been itching like crazy and whimpering and she just hadn't known what to do. The twelve-year-old turned huuuge, beseeching eyes on Professor Wayland; he'd know what to do, right? "Sorry didn't mean to startle you." He said with a grin. At least he didn't scare her too badly she was quick to keep her composure. "Yes, from the forest. There are many creatures in there that I have to look after as well." He gave her a wink. It was all part of the job.He like walking around the forest too. It was very peaceful, despite the creepy.
Chizpurfles. Some how he wasn't surprised. They were so attracted to Crups it was ridiculous. He could see that Emmeline was extremely upset about this so he patted her shoulder, "Not to worry. There is a potion that gets rid of them instantly. I have plenty of it in my storage. Give me a moment and I will grab it for you." He walked past the young Gryffindor and into his hut. After a few minutes, he came back out, potion in hand. "Here you are! Put the whole bottle on him and make sure you have gloves on. After 10 minutes, rinse him off and he should be good as new." He gave her a reassuring smile. "If that doesn't help we may have to call the ministry and get some one from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures down here because we may have an infestation on our hands. So lets hope it's just on him." He really didn't want to have to call the ministry. Quote:

Crossing her legs and then uncrossing them and then crossing them again as she listened to Professor Wayland explain about how it all worked and the serious gravity of the situation, she nodded. "Oh I realize that. I mean even over the summer, he was great and we have a big enough yard, but I wasn't immune to how much work he was..." But it was also fun too and she didn't regret taking him home to meet the family.
Main point though. "I wasn't." Not really, anyway; the thought HAD crossed her mind, but ... her brother just had a baby. She had another half-brother who had a baby. Human babies were a lot of work, so she could only imagine creature babies. "I think I was just concerned and wondering more if and when I needed to use precautionary measures when he played with other nifflers." Female nifflers, specifically. "But it's good to know that I have another year then before I have to be more cautious of who and when he plays..." Nod, nod. "Thank you." For the mating information and for the complement about her being bright and talented; which reminded her... "Okay, one more thing we wanted to ask you about... We were considering possible careers." Duh, she was a fifth year and had started prepping for OWLs last year, so OF COURSE she'd have been thinking about her post-Hogwarts life. "And one of the things that crossed our mind was a career in creature healing, so I wanted to know what you knew about it. What you might expect from me, minimum, to take NEWT level classes and if there's anything in particular I should read up about." Tristan listened and nodded a long as the young girl spoke. He was glad she realized how much work Nifflers were, and was glad to hear that she wasn't planning on mating her Niffler.
Tristan nodded again, "Yes, now he wouldn't be able to reproduce even if he tried to. So you should be fine for now. After he turns two is when you should be more cautious, and if you want to breed him in the future, please get a professional to do it." He gave her a small smile. "You're welcome." She really was a very bright witch and he wanted to see her succeed in all things. That's what he wanted for all of his students, success in life.
Ah, interesting question. "Well, creature healing is part of Magizoology. So not only did my education consist of learning about all creatures, how to feed them and take care of them, we also learn about the proper way to heal them. So if you want a career in healing creatures, go for Magizoology. You learn it all." He paused, "As for NEWTs just study every creature in all the past Care of Magical Creatures books. Make sure you know the best food for them, how to clean them properly, and how to treat any ailments they may have. I would also suggest spending time with the creatures in the barn. Hands on is always best for learning." He said with a grin. Tristan was very happy to hear that she was interested in a career with creatures. Quote:

A voice at the hut entrance got his attention and the boy looked away from the phoenix. "It is" he said as the man asked if his name was Dorian. "Is that phoenix yours?" he asked as he pointed somewhere above.
At that moment, as he had pointed to the sky, Ammonite his purple colored toad made a jump. The creature landed on the ground and tried to get away. Having had this kind of situation probably a hundred times a day, the Ravenclaw quickly bend down and grabbed the toad. "It's actually about him" he said as he straightened back up and held the purple colored toad for him the see. "He keeps trying to escape so i was wondering that maybe there was something I could do about that?" he said. Tristan smile at the young man. He had gotten his name correct! 1 point for him! Heh. Ah, Ash had just landed on the top of the Hut when the young boy pointed him out. "Yes, he is mine." He said with a grin.
Tristan watched as a purple toad jumped out from the boys hand, and then Dorian picked him up rather quickly. It almost seemed like it was routine for him. That wasn't good. "I see. Have a seat." He pointed to the lawn chairs, went and sat down in the chair furthest from the Hut door. "Well,
it might be that he is just scared. How long have you had him?" It took time to train any creature, and some creatures were impossible to train. Toads and Frogs were ridiculously difficult.
