*new TL* Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler
Midnight had come and gone at Hogwarts, and the grounds were shrouded in darkness in early November. Emmeline clutched her winter cloak tighter around her, shivering in the wind and grateful that Hogwarts uniforms were black; with her hood drawn up over her face, she was sure that she blended into the darkness perfectly.
Well, almost perfectly. There was the teensy little fact that her wand was currently lit up courtesy of a Lumos spell, but everyone should be faaast asleep and not noticing stuff like that. She hoped. It had actually been super easy to sneak out of the castle 'cause she hadn't really had to do any sneaking inside it at all! The Gryffindor had come out to the infant creature barn after dinner like always, and had simply curled herself up in a tiiiiny ball inside her cruppy's kennel when curfew rolled around. Those kennels were big enough that Cami could stand inside her crup's, so Sirius's had had plenty of room for a small twelve-year-old ball of black fabric. And nobody would look too closely inside her cruppy's, 'cause he always made so much noise and hovered by the kennel door when Professor Wayland came around, mhm.
The second year took a deeeeep breath as she approached the meeting space that led to Professor Myers's office. Her search of the greenhouses hadn't turned up any evidence related to the Blood Bird, but she hadn't reallllly thought it would. Professor Myers was smarter than that, mhm. But hopefully he was hiding clues in his office, even if there wasn't any concrete evidence there.
Emmeline pushed the door to the professor's meeting space open slooowly, cringing a little at any noise the door made, and stepped hastily inside. This was...the weirdest place ever; it didn't look like a porch or a waiting room or like anything outside the other teachers' offices. It looked like a big sand pit, which was a biiiig PROBLEM, 'cause what if he had buried the poor dead rodents under all this sand?? She'd just have to ask an older student to teach her one of those revealing-secrets spells later and come back another day to search through the sand. At least it hid the sound of her footsteps as she crossed the room headed straight for the professor's office.
He wasn't going to get away with this.
