Maddie was still a complete and total amateur at this sort of thing, but it helped that it sounded like a super fun assignment. She really liked the birds, even if Hufflepuff did get the bird with the hardest name to pronounce. Artreyu. Hmm...that sounded about right, or at least it did when she said to herself. Maddie skipped on over to the bird seed and plastic letters and collected what she'd need for the assignment. Once she had them, she knelt close to the ground and spread out the letters until they formed Y-E-S and N-O. Next, she sprinkled the bird seed all across the letters.

"No eating this just yet, Artreyu," she said. "I've got to ask you a question, and then when you're ready, you can eat the bird seed of your choice." She had no idea if the bird could understand her, but apparently it understood yes or no type questions, so it was possible. Now, what should she ask the bird. She thought long and hard about what she'd like to do tomorrow, and finally, she had just the right question. "Oh, I know! I know!" she said.
