"Well, I just wanted to...you know, let you know, I'm thinking of putting on a play, and here's why." He cleared his throat. "With all of our dazzling clubs, we're missing a THEATRE or DRAMA club here at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!" He beamed. "So I would like to take the plunge and....play director. DO THE PLAYS. Have auditions. I already have it all planned out in my mind-----" He hopped up and paced in front of her desk. "The play will be...The Fountain of Fair Fortune. I have the scenes blocked already. I have copies of the script. It's all DONE for you. All I need is your approval, which I'm sure you'll give me----" another crooked grin in her direction. WHY WOULD SHE SAY NO? "I've already spoken to some of the staff! Rosalyn said she'd help with scenery, costumes, perhaps, and Gaston will work on the music..." EXCITEMENT. "So I just...I think it would be great for our crushed school spirit from our disappointing loss last term."
And now he was done talking. He took a seat again to wait for what she'd say. It didn't take very long for Paul to go all ... Paul ... in front of her. Regina's eyes followed the old man as he sat down on the chair and then started pacing in front of her desk. The dramatics with this one, she observed, were exceedingly over the top today. Nevertheless, the woman's mouth remained closed as he went on with whatever his reason was for wanting this meeting with her.
It soon became very apparent why he was putting a show on in front of her, boa and all. The headmistress simply continued watching him, stoic as ever, as he went on about Hogwarts needing a Drama Club, that he had everything planned out, and that he even knew the play he wanted to put on this term.
But then one of her eyebrows rose when he mentioned the Fountain of Fair Fortune (she had, of course, read about the last time that play had been put on at the school) and seemed to raise even higher when he assumed that she would give him permission to follow through with this and at the revelation that he had already talked with the staff about it. Needless to say, she was a bit annoyed with that.
However, the eyebrow did return to its natural place. She did agree with him, that it would be great for school spirit. Plus she had no qualms whatsoever with the dramatic arts.
After a few minutes of silence after Paul had sit down (on purpose for dramatic effect -- she was being theatrical in her own way, thank you very much), Regina finally spoke. "I will let you carry on with your proposed production, Paul," she said. "I am going to place my trust in you to take care of this. My only requests," -- because, yes, she had those -- "is that you do not let an enlarged Ashwinder play the role of the Worm ... and that you keep me in the loop about when and how things are going to happen." And not leave her to be the last person on the staff to know about his plans. Quote:

If all the passwords were different how was she meant to remember any of them!! Instead of explaining this, however, she went with a simple, “Oh.” At least she was VIP enough to wait around and have the Headmistress show up instantly. This is what Zoryn understood from all of what the Headmistress had just said. “Well, that’s good.” ‘Cause Zoryn couldn’t be bothered to remember more than one password, so it was probably a good thing that Headmistress Hawthorne had her down as a VIP. Good call, Headlady. Good call. The Gryffindor paused only when her Headmistress reached for the doorknob, but then quickly followed inside once the office door was swung open. Hm. It wasn’t exactly how she imagined it to be, buuuuuuut Zoryn was sure that there was more than met the eye, a proper adult trick. “Is your secret swimming pool upstairs?” ‘Cause after the Gryffindor’s quick scan of the office, it was apparent that there were tons of books, but no pool. Made sense though, Hawthorne probably didn’t want people to see her clad in just her swimming clothes when they entered her office. The Headmistress was actually pretty smart!! Who knew!?! Zoryn owed her some more credit where it was due.
With all that aside, the third year took a seat on one of the chairs, giving her bum a good bounce on the cushion in attempt to make herself more comfortable. “Well I’ve got LOADS of suggestions,” she nodded. “First one is that we should probably just get rid of house tables in the Great Hall since everyone just sits wherever they want anyways,” this one was something she had been thinking about for a while, so clearly it was supremely well thought out and perfect. “We’re also in desperate need of an ice cream machine in the Gryffindor Common Room, less morning classes, AND you should make it a law that Professors aren’t allowed to have the same name. It’s confusing and distracting.” Examples? Professor Marchand. BUUUUT which one was she talking about???? HMMMMM???? Professor Stewart. Muggle Studies or Transfiguration????? ooooOOooOOOOOoooo. The world may never know. Case closed.
Was she done? Not exactly. But she did take a break to breathe and let the Headmistress stew in all of those GRAND ideas. There was a bit of a smirk on her face in response to Zoryn only having a simple 'oh' to say after discovering that all passwords were different. They did serve their purpose well: keeping unwanted people out. And from preventing any Gryffindors from coming into her office unannounced and throwing a party or whatever they did.
As she made her way inside her own office and closed the door, she was rather surprised that Zoryn wasn't pressing her face against her glass curio cabinets or messing with her gramophone. But, at the same time, she was relieved. She was even a bit relieved at the absurd question that came out of the girl's mouth.
"No, Miss Spinnet, I don't have a secret swimming pool," she responded, a bit of lightheartedness in the tone of her voice, as she took her seat behind the desk. She said no more on that matter. What was actually upstairs would forever remain a mystery to the young Gryffindor. Not that there was anything terribly exciting up there anyway.
Her hand was placed on her chin while she carried on with her suggestions. They were ... well ... very Zoryn. Regardless, Regina remained quiet and let the girl speak. There was a bit of a pause when the girl was finished, more for show than anything as she already knew her responses.
"We'll keeping the House tables as they are, Miss Spinnet. They've been separated like that since the school was founded. It's tradition, even if we are more lenient today with seating arrangements for the most part." There was a bit of a pause for that to sink in. "As for your ice cream needs in your common room, that would be something to take up with your Head of House." If he was willing to clean up after them (unsupervised Gryffindors with an ice cream machine was bound to get messy), then so be it.
"There isn't much that can be done about morning classes. Everyone has them and goes to them. It's better to just get them over with right away rather than have you all have to sit through lessons until the middle of the night, don't you think? ... And I'm sorry if professors having the same last surname are confusing to you, but we don't discriminate against one's name when it comes to being on staff. It's just something you'll have to figure out by using the context of your conversation."
The woman made a quick glance over at her hourglass. There was still plenty of sand in it that needed to go down. "Is there anything else, Miss Spinnet?" Dare she even ask that question?
