Maisie watched as the sweets flew past her. One floated over her shoulder and wound itself in her hair.
“That’s cute,” The girl next to her said. “It likes you,”
Maisie smiled, a little embarrassed. The sweet continued to buzz around her. It was blue with bronze banding.
“Well take it!” The girl, a Second Year, with her arm in a cast raised her eyebrows.
Oh no! She thinks I’m weird. Maisie’s anxiety twisted in her chest. “But it might be…” She tried to explain.
“It might be what? A trick sweet?”
Maisie nodded, her eyes on the table.
“Who would send you that?” The girl asked, pulling the sweet from the air. She glanced across at the Slytherin table. “Is someone mean and green bullying you?”
Maisie couldn’t help but giggle. “No. I’m just paranoid,” She said. She took the sweet from the other girl’s hand and ate it.
It was orange.
