Kirk then entered, greeted by the familiar furnishings right before seeing his Head lounging with his drink. Bad time? No way, he would've left a do not disturb sign or something. Maybe.
"Hey Professor, how're things?" He greeted as sat down in front of him. Prior to the feast it hadn't been that long ago since he saw his Head. His Uncle Justin's twins birthday party was among the few opportunities he got to catch up with in between school. Briefly remembering what his parents suggested he do first. "Thanks for this by the way." Pinching part of the robe right above his sparkily badge lifting it to signify. It surprised Kirk, especially since it meant he was the first in his family for a number of generations to be prefected. But that wasn't all he was here for.
"So.. it's my O.W.L year now and I think I got most my scheduling okay with handling the upcoming work." He usually wasn't a planner, but if he were to pick up a new habit, keeping up with his work while having fun seemed to be best with him. "I'm not too sure career wise what I'd like to do though still, something with Astronomy or Divination would be cool.. but I was also curious about the work for Healing if all else fails as backup." He had to have a few other options as well, but he was really curious about his Head's thoughts. The sight of the student to walk in brought an instant smile to the man's face. If he was completely honest, he did expect this to happen sometime, whether the boy came to find him or he went to find the boy. Still, there was a smile on his face, especially at the sight of a certain badge pinned to his robes.
But first. "Hey, Kirk. Things are good, it's nice to be back in the swing of things." This came with a bunch of markings but you couldn't have it all. "How are things with you? How are you liking that new badge?" At this, he nodded at the blue badge. It was hard to think of the badge going to someone other than Rooney Bronwyn, especially seeing as the boy had had it for so long, but he was glad with the choice he'd made. Very glad. "You're welcome. You've deserved it and I am very proud of the progress you've made." Smile.
In hindsight, he should've known that the badge wasn't all that Kirk wanted to see him about. OWLs, scheduling and career options were all huge topics and so, Hirsch sat up a little straighter to prepare himself for this. "First of all, I'm glad you've found a balance between your OWL preparations and your Prefect duties. It can be tough to juggle both, along with any other activities you might want to take part in," Both social and academic. "But the fact that you've found that balance and are preparing yourself so early on in the year is a good sign. Well done."
Next, career options. While the Prefect spoke, Hirsch picked up his wand and directed it towards one of the many drawers lining the side of his office. This one, containing a bunch of important looking files, slid open and one of the files flew out and landed right on the desk in front of Hirsch. The name at the top told him that it was Kirk's and he flipped it open to the correct page: one with the Ravenclaw's most recent grades. "Astronomy, Divination and Healing are all very different career paths." Just saying. "Healing itself has a wide range of options and possibilities, depending on what area you want to specialise. You will need either an Outstanding or Exceeds Expectations in Charms, Herbology, Transfiguration, Potions and, of course, Defence Against the Dark Arts at NEWT level. Personally, I am very pleased with your Defence grade and all I can tell you is to keep going at the rate you're going and you should be fine." Smile. "Healing also requires extra study in Wizarding University as well where you'll learn most of the basic treatments as well as think about which area you want to specialise in. It's a lot of hard work and extra hours, mad hours for those that work in St Mungos, but if that's something you're willing to do, then that sounds like a great career path for you."
Breathe. "You can go a number of ways with Astronomy. One option is, of course, the Ministry of Magic. They have a Space Chamber there where the Astronomers who work there look at and track celestial bodies as well as look to investigate how magic has evolved in the universe over time. There are also Physicists who work there, if you don't want to go directly down the path of Astronomy and want to combine it with Physics. You will need an E in Astronomy at NEWT level for both of these and I'm guessing good grades in Charms won't be bad as well." Would Muggle Studies be a good option here? Maybe. "You could also look at working for a Muggle space station like NASA but be warned, that requires a lot of effort and dedication; they take the best of the best. If not, you could become an Astronomer and work at observatories up and down the country as well as oversees." The option was his. "If you want to do Divination...." Hmm... "As always, the Ministry of Magic is always an option for this. The Department of Mysteries has a Hall of Prophecy which requires an E in Divination at OWL level. Their exact role is said to be a bit of a mystery but I'm guessing that they work closely with the prophecies places there, whether it's observing them or collecting information about them." He really didn't know. "If you're good with foretelling the future, you could always start up or work for a Tarot reading business but, well, personally, I think you could do much better." No offence to Tarot readers but he couldn't see Kirk going down that career path. "Divination is slightly more limited in options than the other two but there is always the option of teaching it, if you're willing." Which wasn't a bad career option either. Just saying. "All of them would require some further studying, to strengthen your opportunities later on." It wasn't for everyone but university was still a good option. "So which one sounds the best to you? And are there any subjects you're currently struggling with?" Quote:

He probably wouldn't be able to figure out the Professor's board, either. He finally looked back at Professor Hirsch and smiled slightly. "Hello, Professor. How does it feel to be back?" It was only polite to inquire, after all. And he certainly didn't want to be seen as rude. The sound of the door opening was enough to, finally, divert his attention away from the board. Constant vigilance, you know. Keeping your back to an open door wasn't a good option for self-defence, after all.
Not that he needed it in the slightest considering who was standing there. "Hello, Kyle," he said, smiling at the boy and turning away from the board completely to take a seat at his desk, "Surprisingly, it feels good to be back. Summer is always a good thing but you can't have too much of a good thing, can you?" And he did enjoy his job to the extent that he had been looking forward to coming back here. "How do you feel being back? Ready for your second year?"
