Giza. He'd been once or twice, but never for long and never to really explore.
Hardly an advantage here.

Either way he was ready to go. Taking in his surroundings.. Was the next clue here? or did they have a marked path to follow?

Antonio spent a few moments watching the contestants as they searched for their portkeys and he couldn't say he was exactly impressed. How hard was it to find a portkey? He didn't think they were hidden all that well. And if they had a difficult time with this task, he didn't have high hopes for the rest of the game. But his outward appearance didn't at all convey his inner thoughts as he kept a pleasant smile on his face.

And soon enough, he pulled out the broken comb from his pocket, activated it, and was transported to Giza himself before the first pairing of contestants began arriving. Pair by pair, they started to pop into view before him, until they were waiting for one more group (Sabina and Rafael). He waited a few more minutes, but eventually deemed it time to begin this challenge. Hopefully those two would show up soon and not have the misfortune of starting after everyone else.

"Ahlan wa Sahlan, everyone! Welcome to Egypt!" Antonio gave them all a wide smile, excited to really get the event underway. "Are we ready to get started? For this first stop, you will be going inside the Great Pyramid!" He grandly gestured to the largest pyramid about two kilometers from where they all were standing. "Once inside, you will need to enter one of the chambers and retrieve a scarab artifact. However, there is only one scarab per chamber, so be sure to look in a chamber that another team has not already gotten to." Depending on how quickly and efficiently they get inside, that may prove more difficult than expected.

"But be careful! As I'm sure you are aware, the pyramids are known for the many curses bestowed inside. Once you have retrieved the scarab, exit the pyramid and find the sphinx. You will need to correctly answer the sphinx's riddle before you can cross the finish line." Antonio handed each pair of contestants a sealed envelope that had those steps that he just outlined as well as more details about the tasks. He held onto one for the remaining team still needing to show up.

"When you are ready, you may begin! But one last thing, apparition does not work in this specific location." Whether it was a curse or anti-disapparition spell or something else entirely, he did not say. "It is quite a distance, but if you'd like, you can make use of the camels." He again gestured, though not quite as grandly, this time at the group of seven camels in front of the bottles of water and headscarves. "You might find them useful in this desert heat." And with that, they could get started. "Good luck!"

SPOILER!!: ic/ooc info
Steps and Information for the Task
  • Make your way to the pyramid two kilometers away. You can use any means you are realistically able to, but no apparating. There are camels as Antonio said, but only one per group and they only seat one at a time.
  • Find your way into the pyramid through an entrance called the Robber's Tunnel. There is an invisible barrier blocking your way so you must find a way past that first.
  • Inside, there are many narrow passages that ascend and descend to several different chambers. If you can decipher some hieroglyphs, you might be able to quickly find your way. Otherwise, just keep going. You'll eventually get there.
  • If you're lucky, you may find an amulet (or two) inside the chamber. If you know what they're used for, you might find them beneficial to you. But be careful not to touch anything else that doesn't belong to you. Some of the artifacts may be permeated with a dark curse such as Flagrante, Gemino, or Conjunctivitis.
  • Look for a golden scarab (they will each be inside a sarcophagus, not initially known to the contestants. The sarcophagus will be sealed closed, so maybe use magic or some curse-breaking skills to retrieve it).
  • Once that is found, exit the pyramid and look for the sphinx. Be careful to approach her properly. She will give you a riddle which you must answer correctly and then you can be on your way to the finish line.

"OH WOW"

Where they in Eygpt? This was amazing, did Max see all of this. "Can you believe we are here?" She grinned squeezing his arm, but before she could say anymore someone was talking to them. She listened to him and his instructions. They would be going into a pyramid? Was he serious? She had never been a cursebreaker thought she was top of her class at school, but that was eleven years ago. How as she ever going to get through this!

Thankful she had Max she turned to him, "So Camels, glad I brought a camera because this is going to be a great memory if nothing else." She was happy to be doing this with him and glad that they had the opportunity. Turning she looked back at the camels and started walking towards one. "Ever used one before? I mean are they like horses?" She really didn't have a clue.
