Post 4: Female Augurey *21 April, 2093* Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese She'd come back that next morning...and had made a routine of it over time, showing up to check on Elphie before lessons in the early hours. Days were difficult for her since returning, where close friends had been entrusted with the care of her augurey. Whilst Olivia recovered from her horrific accident, of course. Very kind of good friends to look out for her newest baby. Though, thanks to her terrible misfortune, Liv was more suspicious of their intentions than she'd ever been before. And Merlin, the blonde hated feeling that way about her friends. It was the grossest of the gross, and she did not like it. Doubt was the worst thing that could ever happen to a person. It had been to her. Anyway.
Luckily, Elphie had taken to the makeshift nest, and Olivia had been dutifully cleaning it each day. As the bird grew more and more in size, the cage became much more cramped, given the perch, the nest, and the bird were all occupying it. Speaking of the bird, its sleek feathers had fully grown in and now gleamed like diamonds on water. They were so beautiful, it made Liv's heart flutter. Beauty. When was the last time she'd been able to appreciate the simple beauty of nature. Or.....creatures. That was...kinda nature, even with the cage? "You're lovely, and I hope I'm not mucking this up too badly." She wished she could let her out....and thought that maybe... JUST MAYBE.... she would after a couple more months. They would simply have to wait and see.
On this day, however, they were once again discussing omens, given the etymology of the name. And Olivia's recent scholastic news. "Maybe you'll be a good luck charm for me when we travel across the pond." Oh, that reminded her! She'd need to check with Headmistress Moxley to make sure augureys would be allowed as pets....because leaving Elphie at home, with her mother, wouldn't work. And really, there was no need to make the older blonde woman anymore raving than she already was. Obviously, I'll try to take you with me. I hope I can...." Headmistress Moxley had a heart, didn't she?!
Going through the paces of cleaning poop, refilling food, and even providing water....Olivia noticed her augurey was becoming more vocal during their daily visits. It warmed her heart, naturally.....but also inspired just a touch of superstition. Augureys had once been believed to predict death, and given her rotten luck with her own health lately... Well, it was dumb to worry, but Liv couldn't really help it. "You aren't trying to tell me I'm going to die, are you?" She was stroking the bird's pretty feathers with her index finger. "Though, I suppose it's better not to know, right?" Her mind suddenly flew to a very interesting place. Just three days prior...she'd suffered many little deaths. Were Augureys sensitive to those things, as well?.....The Gryffindor had the grace to blush at her own thoughts. "Okay, you. Behave and I'll return." Not that Liv doubted Elphie would be the best augurey in the nursery. She definitely would be, everyone knew.
