post 5 Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Henry could hardly believe it was June already and soon it would be time to go home for the summer. He loved summer and was looking forward to it for many reasons, but it also meant that he'd have to leave Caelus behind even if he was going to ask Professor Wayland about adopting him. His parents just wouldn't let him have a winged horse at home. "Hey, buddy! Feeding time," he grinned at the growing foal as he entered Caelus's stall with his feeding mixture. He had kind of gotten into a routine with taking care of the foal in feeding, grooming, and cleaning, but he wanted to try something different today after he took care of all the essentials. Something even more fun than usual, especially since he'd be leaving soon.
Once he was finished cleaning and Caelus was done eating, he led him out for their usual walk, but decided to go a different way. On the way, he told him about his plans for the summer and tried to break it gently that he wouldn't be able to come with him. In fact, he put a positive spin on it about how Caelus would have fun with Professor Wayland and his creature friends here, and he'd get to see him again soon. In fact, he couldn't wait to see how much more he'd have grown.
Finally he reached a small grove of fruit trees at one end of the grounds. Apples weren't normally ripe this time of year, at least not just yet, but he knew of a charm that accelerated the growing speed of plants which he had cast on one of the trees to force it to produce some ripened apples. "Look, Caelus.. apples!" Henry pointed up at the tree, knowing his granian favored the fruit. "Go up and get some." He thought it might be a fun game for him to fly up and grab one off a branch, but he didn't seem to understand what he wanted him to do. But Henry could find another way.
Leaving the foal on the ground, Henry began climbing the tree, pulling himself up onto one branch and then another Once he was high enough, he situated himself on a sturdy limb and pulled off an apple from the branch. "Caelus, catch!" He threw it up in the air for him and watched the granian as he stretched out his wings and flew up, catching the apple in his teeth. "Nice!" Henry chuckled to himself and grabbed another apple. He knew this would be a fun game, and it counted as training too, right? He'd just have to make sure he didn't overdo it with the apples, and he took a bite of one himself as he waited for Caelus to finish the one he caught.
