Brent cast a glance toward the erumpents, noting that the bigger of the two was eyeing him, yet doing nothing that indicated he'd attack. It still didn't completely put Brent at ease. He'd studied plenty of magical creatures before, but coming face to face with them in their natural environment? He couldn't say he'd had much experience on that end of things. The streeler was continuing on its merry way, the erumpents weren't charging him, and the fwooper was still singing away in the distance. As far as threats from creatures were concerned, Brent felt pretty confident that he was alright for now.
He looked down at his jar of freezing flames, noting that his plan had worked. Somewhat, at least. It was still scorching hot in the African forest, and the slight breeze had only lowered the temperature to 'slightly below miserable'. His plans seemed to be coming along wonderfully, until the sounds of the fwoopers reached his ears with such intensity that it caused him to stop right in his tracks. He winced a little as the sound intensified, and it was then he realized he'd been wrong to cast the Supersensory Charm. The sound that had once been in the distance now seemed as if it was a mere foot or so away from him. "Finite!" he quickly cast, knowing good and well the spell would end everything he'd previously cast. It would be a complete pain to re-do everything, but he imagined it'd be even worse to be driven mad in the loneliness of the African forest. He sighed and set about recasting everything he'd previously done--save for the Supersensory Charm, thank you very much. He ran a hand through his hair, already slightly tired from the events he'd already encountered and the intensity of the challenge alone.
Merlin, it was getting hot. Brent second-guessed his 'breeze in a jar' idea, realizing it wasn't strong enough for the heat of the forest. He held tight to his jar for now, though, seeing as he didn't have a better plan at the moment. He had just been studying the trees and grass around him, when he stopped right in his tracks for the second time in a matter of minutes. Was his mind playing tricks on him, or was there a random, cherry-colored door just before him? This was IMPS--of course there was a random door in the middle of the forest. Brent approached the door with caution, while also staying a healthy distance away. He circled the door, noting that there were no knobs on either side of it.
Well, ...wasn't that just convenient?
As Brent continued to study the door, three ideas came to mind. The first was that there might possibly be hidden words on the door, and if that was the case..."Aparecium!" he called out, pointing his wand toward the door. His second thought was that there might very well be a doorknob, but it was just concealed in some way. If that was the case..."Revelio!" he called out, again pointing his wand toward the door. His final thought for now was that the door simply needed to be unlocked with magic, and that no doorknob at all would ever open it. In that case..."Alohomora!" he called out, pointing his wand toward the door a third time. Brent took a step back and waited to see if his efforts would produce any positive results.
Surely something would work...
