"I heard s-screaming," he nodded faintly, ruffling his hair with his muddy hands. "Thought that maybe..." Never mind. It didn't matter. He wasn't sure he could take the heartbreak of more adults telling him to 'get over it and move on'. "I'm glad you're okay, Zoryn," he settled for, eyes stinging a little, as he zoomed to close the distance between himself and the Gryffindor...basically tackling her in a muddy hug. SQUISH. Muddy and wet too since his wand was still spewing water.

Oh.

"FiniTE, right," he blushed. Or, well, he WOULD have blushed if you could see his cheeks underneath all that mud. So with a flick of his wrist he performed that spell and off went the water. There were a LOT of spells to remember, you know? Professors overestimated everyone ability to memorize stuff. There was a LOT to learn about magic and everything, you know?sdkaaaaaaasdkaaa Derf head was already pretty full of creature information and stuff.

Anyway, his wand wasn't producing water anymore so that was that.

"OH! I s-s-still have extra," he informed his friend as he fished a few extra seeds out from his pocket from earlier. "Mine is in the mud by the creature barn." You know. In case that wasn't obvious.

As to the Headmistress' other question, er, he didn't really WANT to admit to not hearing a single word she had said so...he was going to try and be crafty. "Is-s there...uh...a s-specific order we s-s-should carve that in?" he asked, gesturing to the flaming bind rune in the sky.

"But you are okay, so there is nothing to worry about. Let's just avoid going that direction again, okay?"

And there would be no restraining orders for the Whomping Willow today. That's not how those worked. If you didn't want to make contact with its branches, you simple didn't go anywhere near it.

Her raised eyebrow returned to once again when the girl mentioned that she had lost her seed. It was then directed at the Hufflepuff when he said that he still had extra seeds. Hadn't she said to put the extras back? Alas, she was going to let it slide. Him having the seed Zoryn needed was saving her time in the grand scheme of things.

Though his seed was in the mud? Oh, Merlin.

As for how she could further assist them, she saw right past Derfael. She had been teaching long enough to know when students hadn't been listening to instructions. She wasn't born yesterday, you know. "The order would be Berkana, Inguz, and then Jera, Mr. Ashburry-Hawthorne." She hoped he wouldn't need her to pronounce the incantation for him, considering they had been using it all term.

She then conjured a small piece of parchment and wrote something on it. Precious minutes had gone by and the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff needed to catch up with everyone else. "And this, you two, is the galdr you will need to chant to activate your bind rune once you have it carved. I'll say it again in just a moment, so pay attention," she said, handing it over to Zoryn simply because she wasn't the one covered in mud. Would they be able to handle the rest of the assignment on their own now?

Her wand then returned to her neck a few minutes later. It was time for a heads up on how much time they had left before the lesson had to come to a close. "As a gentle reminder, the galdr you're chanting today is berkano berkano berkano, ingwaz ingwaz ingwaz, jera jera jera, bub a bi be bo, ung ang ing eng ong, j j j e e e r r r a a a. Once the bind rune is glowing, cast the Herbivicus Charm. There are about fifteen minutes left to get your seeds planted and grown. Carry on."

OOC: There is still plenty of time to complete the main activity potion of this lesson. I will be wrapping things up tomorrow afternoon. ^__^
“Maybe it’s just cranky today,” she offered. ‘Cause Zoryn 506% believed that this was not her own fault. It was definitely the tree. Plus, she was trying to make it a friend. What wasn’t there to appreciate?!? “Okay,” she nodded despite her Professor’s disbelief. Geez. Hopefully Hawthorn would still put the restraining order through though, Zoryn was very serious about that.

Zoryn looked at Derf while he explained to Hawthorne his reason for running over. Her eyes were filled with nothing but honest endearment and appreciation. He was the BEST EVER. “I’m glad too,” she returned his hug VERY enthusiastically, squeezing maybe a little too hard in the process. She didn’t even care about the mud. Or uh, the water. Welp. She was now a sufficient mess. “You’re a hero,” Derf and Levi were BOTH her greatest heroes ever.

Speaking of heroes, Derf saved her once again with the extra seeds! “Thanks, Derf!!!” She owed him BIG time. Maybe she could catch him a funky insect creature or something. She was sure he’d appreciate that. Mhm. Or maybe she could find him a mermaid or something. That would be EVEN cooler.

The second year stayed quiet after hearing Derf’s question. Yes. Nodding. Lots of nodding. Zoryn needed the instructions again too. Runes was REALLY hard. There was a lot to memorize. It helped that they had it all written down now though. She took the parchment from her Headmistress (though, Zoryn was also plenty of muddy now thanks to that hug so the whole issue of getting it muddy would not be avoided). “Thanks Professor-Headmistress! Let’s go Derf!! I’m gonna plant my seed by yours. Our trees can be friends,” because the whomping willow lost his chance.

And with that she slipped her hand into his and tugged him forward towards the Creature Barn where his mud pile sat untouched.
