Once Kitty was finished burying her pine seed, she pointed her wand at the spot and said, "Aguamenti." A small stream of water poured from the end of her wand and bathed that area of the ground in water. "Finite!"

So far so good. Next she would carve the three runes, starting with Berkana. The instructions were extremely complicated and unfortunately her quick quotes quill hadn't been able to record from the start. But she'd do her best with what she'd heard and then ask for more directions. "Intaglio Berkana!"

Last time she'd tried to help a classmate being attacked by a wild creature, it had also been an ancient runes class and the boy she'd been trying to help (Derf) had intentionally rolled in the way of her spell so she ended up hurting more than helping. (And she'd clumsily left him behind after stunning him. Ugh!)

Not wanting to repeat the same scenario, Kitty decided against shooting a spell from this distance. Instead she picked up her wand and strode over to Skylar and the Pixies. "Hey! Leave her alone!" she shouted, pointing her wand at the Pixies to distract them.
