Together they both got up and left the office. It was a rather enjoyable walk, especially since the weather was so much better than it was before. As they went outside she saw dark gray clouds in the distance - though these clouds probably wouldn't reach them until it was almost night. Someday she wanted to dance in the rain, somewhere where no one could see her. That would feel liberating, she thought.
She bit her lip when asked about her success on making friends. "Sadly I don't think I've succeeded so far. I mean, we're friendly all right, and I like all of them - but I don't think any of them would say 'Hi Kitty' if I were in the middle of a group. But I'll keep going at it until I have at least one. That's all I need. Then we can write to each other all the time and when I visit America sometime I can visit her or him. I'd love to see Ilvermorny." "I imagine you must have many of them as your friends," she commented as they descended the steps towards the grounds. To the compliment on her prefect devotion she said, "Thank you. I've been trying. I'll be very sad when Rooney's not here anymore. And next year will be my last year." The thought stopped her in her tracks. Swallowing, she continued walking. "I really don't want to go. It's silly, but I'd like to freeze time to stay a student for awhile more." She also wanted to be old enough to be an activist, but Hogwarts was her home. The thought of not being allowed to come back was almost too much to bear. And she really did NOT want to get a job.
They arrived at the barn then. "Ooh we're here."
The cookies would be ready for Kitty to take back to her dorm when they got back from the barn. The Ravenclaw would be free to take as many as she liked of course. Kay was always happy when the kiddos were happy. She walked side by side with Kitty and she realised the temperature had dropped a little. "Goodness! I didn't realise it was going to be a cool evening.''
Kitty's revelation made Kay ponder something which she eventually asked. "Do you have trouble making friends?'' She had never wondered this before because Kitty always seemed well liked. She wondered if indeed she had this problem if it were due to her strong support of Muggles or her goth appearance. "I can tell that you're excited to visit America and Ilvermorny. I myself have never been to America and would like to someday.''
Kay smiled. "I do have a few,'' was her modest reply. She inwardly felt sad at the mention of graduating. Each year she would feel this way as she would grow fond of the kiddos. "He certainly will be missed here. As will you when the time comes.'' The woman paused too when she realised Kitty had stopped. "Oh, Ms Valentine.'' A reassuring hand was rested on the girl's shoulder. "Look at your graduation as an opportunity to get started on your career, to follow your dreams.'' She tried to sound positive and upbeat but deep down, she was rather sad. She adored Kitty, you see.
Had they? Kay looked around. Indeed they had arrived at the barn. "Come on. Playing with Marshmallow should cheer you up but you can continue talking to me about whatever you like.'' The professor went ahead to free her crup from among the others, where it came barking happily up to her. |
