She knew that she hadn't had to get more fruit and stuff from the front -- Stasya had gotten a lot -- but what if the demiguise were extra super hungry? Emmeline hadn't wanted to take that chance. She held her apricot slice out patiently, and shot her best friend a HUUGE grin when a demiguise was clearly after the fruit in Stasya's hand. She was still planning on being quiet until she or Stasya managed to lure another creature over, though. It would be so cool to see if two of the demiguise would interact with each other!!
Professor Wayland's question barely registered in the first year's mind, 'cause she was so, so excited and trying to focus on being still and nonthreatening. Also, there could be a lot of evil answers to that question, and that was something that she really didn't want to think about. Also also, several of her classmates spoke up and said most of the answers -- brushing, shedding -- that had come to mind, so she didn't have anything to add. Stasya's answer had been a good one too, and Emmeline shot her friend another smile when she said it.
As soon as the professor went on with the talking part of the lesson after loads of her classmates had answered, Emmeline noticed a blue light coming right for the slice of apricot in her hand. She beamed at the demiguise as he took the fruit from her and it disappeared as he ate it! She looked over at Stasya after holding out another apricot slice, this one a litttllle closer to her body. The demiguise followed the food like she'd hoped he would, and soon that piece was disappearing into thin air too. By the time the professor had stopped talking and a brush and container had been zoomed over to her, the demiguise was fully visible. Emmeline gave Stasya another biiiig smile as she slowly, carefully bent to pick up the brush while extending yet another piece of her fruit to the demiguise in her other hand. Once she'd straightened up properly and had the brush in hand, the first year smiled at the demiguise and slowly showed the brush to him. So he'd know it couldn't hurt him, see. Hopefully he'd know what it was. It was so cool that they got to help the sanctuary out like this!!! Emmeline fed the demiguise her last slice of the apricot she'd already cut up and carefully started brushing him while he was focused on eating.
