"That works." Sam was surprised that her bestie didn't want to see Cherry straightaway, oblivious that she'd already popped in, but didn't make a thing of it. She was easy going, and had a feeling that was exactly what Dora needed on a day like today. She slowly drew her gaze away from the thestral, and pulled Dora into a hug. It'd be okay.
It'd all be okay. Sam knew a thing or two about being homeless. And also knew Dora wasn't. Sam's room would always be open to her bestie, wherever in the world it might be.
Wasabi. Sam loved that owl, and the communication she afforded. Although, she struggled to think of her as her own. She still thought of it as a long-term borrowing arrangement.
"Of course." She pulled a bag from a her robes pocket, rolling her eyes as saw a nibbled hole in the corner. "Ollie!" she groaned, awkwardly turning it in her hands so the contents didn't end up all over the barn floor. Her rat scarpered onto Dora's shoulder in response. "Well, at least he didn't eat 'em all. Greedy guts."
Dora noticed the frown, but chose to ignore it and every possible meaning it could have. Sighs. She hated to make Sam frown in any capacity, but right now she just couldn't help it. She was depressed.
Nodding at the other girl, she made to sit down, but was suddenly pulled into a hug. Patting was happening. Back patting. As Dora stared blankly at the thestral. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate the hugs, because she definitely did. It was just that lately anytime someone hugged her she started to cry, and right now she was trying to prevent that. It was almost as if anytime she let herself feel any emotions... she began to weep and wail. Comfort even.
And well, the Gryffindor was tired of crying at the moment.
After the hug ended she attempted a smile once more... and then folded herself onto the ground.
Then Ollie happened. On her shoulder. Dora couldn't help but laugh a little. Just a little. And it sounded off. "
I found a bag in my trunk if you want them, " she said as she started to tear at a piece of straw she picked up nearby.
