When Skylar first saw the announcement about mandrake dissection, she had to admit she was slightly nervous and yet excited at the same time. Usually lessons were rather monotonous in the way they followed the textbook, but the opportunity to do something as cool as dissect a MANDRAKE, even if it was kind of like a plant baby, was definitely appealing.
Inspecting the tray of supplies at workstation, she decided she would use the scalpel, because even though she was competent with diffindo, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to control it enough and end up slicing the whole thing in half instead of the mere incisions. A scalpel would definitely allow her greater control. When indicated, she carefully took her scalpel and made the small incision as Professor Myers indicated, and then posed with them a question about why it resembled a carrot.
"Well, I'd have to say, it maybe has to do with something about both mandrakes and carrots growing in the ground? Maybe the soil gives it something to do with the texture?" Was she close? Completely off?
And now was a good time to put on that mask before the stenches got too bad.
