Melanie followed her brother. Her heart raced with excitement, pumping against her ribcage with an erratic beat. Her hands trembled around the package. “It has. We can begin.” She smiled haughtily, showing her brother all her teeth while doing so. “But not tonight. We will wait for our chance. Keep up your work.” She looked around curiously. “I want to open it….to examine it. But...I fear now is not a good time.” Melanie tucked it back under her arm. “I think I’ll be keeping it with me.” She hoped her brother didn’t take that to heart, or with offense. She was used to being in charge; she was the more dominant twin and she always had been. “We will come up with something foolproof. For now...let us go back to your room...and celebrate.” Perhaps with a well deserved message to home.
