Post 1 - blue, 5 points Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler
Emmeline beamed at Professor Stewart when the teacher had come over and watched her attempts at dagger-making. The professor's comments made it clear that she had liked her answer about vampires after all! Yay!
As a result, the first year felt much more cheered up as she listened to the professor's instructions for the main activity. She wasn't too sure about this throwing-daggers business, so she placed her correct dagger on the floor and lined up clutching the half-finished one she'd first made instead. Its "edge" or ending point was totally flat and dull, so she didn't think it would really hurt anyone if something happened. Besides, she wanted to play Chaser position on some kind of informal Quidditch team someday, and this was kind of a cool way to practice! Maybe she'd ask Professor Stewart if she could play with this board when there weren't any lessons going on sometime.
From her place in line, Emmeline watched as her classmates took their turns and at least some of them were successful! This made her feel even better about the whole thing, because obviously success was possible. Jessa hadn't missed -- though she had gotten it in the wrong hole -- so Emmeline gave her an encouraging smile as the older girl went to make a new dagger. Stasya's just barely missed, but Emmeline was sure that her friend would get it next time!
Emmeline bounced a little on her feet as she got closer and closer to the head of the line, because she was kind of nervous about this now. When it was finally her turn, she took careful aim and lobbed it right into a hole! The only problem was, it had turned from red to blue RIGHT after she let go of the dagger! Emmeline made a face at the board, 'cause that was totally not fair, before going back to her seat to grab the proper dagger she'd made from smoke earlier. She would get that silly board next time! |
