| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict It wasn’t that she didn’t know the answers to the questions Professor Stewart had asked. Or at least, Stasya could have given answers even if they had been not entirely right. She’d thought about conjuring when it had come to the question about how someone could get a dagger if they didn’t have one around, anyway, but her housemate had already mentioned it so she’d stayed quiet. Plus, there were plenty of distractions. The dagger, Derf with the Extendable Ear that she knew was connected to Abey somewhere…she’d thought she had caught a glimpse of Cameron outside the classroom before he had disappeared again. The curling smoke and the dagger being passed around. A lot of distractions, and she was finding it hard to focus. But now, she had to. A spell had been introduced, and they’d been told to try it so that meant she had to focus.
First, though, she’d quickly scribbled down any notes she’d missed from before, along with all the information about the spell. Then she finally took her wand out and just practiced making the little circle movment. Not always around wisps of smoke, but it was important to get the movement figured out. Only then did she try out the incantation, setting her wand in her lap so she wouldn’t accidentally cast anything before she wanted to. “Fuh-moos lah-me-na,” she said first, deliberately working on the syllables so she wouldn’t mess them up. “Fumus lamina. Fumus lamina. Fumus lamina.”
Okay, that question that Vivian had made sense. Except, wasn’t smoke kind of like carbon or something which was almost metal so maybe that’s what made it able to be turned into a dagger. She didn’t know, but she decided to wait to see what the answer was. She had to try the spell. Plus, she’d seen Emmeline try it, so that meant she had to. Just to see if she could. “Fumus lamina,” she said again, tracing a circle around a wisp of smoke that had curled near her and focusing on an image of a dagger in her head. She had watched with wide eyes as the shape of a sheathed dagger had formed, but when she’d reached up to see if it was real her hand had gone right through it. It was like a ghost dagger, which was kind of cool but also useless. She wanted an actual dagger. Maybe with a pink sheath. Mhm.
“Fumus lamina!,” she said again, tracing the tip of her wand in a circle around a bigger wisp of smoke n focusing all her thoughts on that dagger in her head and not stopping until it dropped to the edge of the fire pit and her eyes widened. It was real. As real as she’d managed until now, anyway, even if it felt too light to actually do any damage. She’d made a dagger out of smoke, and she checked to make sure there was a blade inside the sheath. Pretty, she thought, turning the dagger from side to side and watching the magical flames reflect off the metal.
