"Really?" Well, if Maddox and Blakeney said, then it must be true. "Alright, makes sense." Because it did. But what didn't make sense, was Madelyn. What was going on?? When she started speaking, he thought she was going to say that she wanted to talk things out and get on the same page. He didn't expect her to say all of that, thus adding more confusion to his head. "Wait, what?"
Khalil shook his head and tried to sort out what Madelyn had just said. "No, I don't know that, you never told me that. I really thought we were on the same page." Like he knew that she wasn't the type to just be with multiple people, but he figured that she being with just him would be enough for her. If he'd known otherwise, he would've stopped everything. Yikes. He really had gotten himself into a situation without even realizing it. "I don't know what to say," he said, shaking his head again. What could he say anyway?? She was upset and he was the cause. Hearing Will's name didn't phase him - though it did give him pause; he thought she didn't have a date?? - because that was his brother and whatever Will did, Khalil knew about and vice-versa.
"Oh," he replied, feeling a little rejected. A slight frown graced his lips. "Well, have fun then." He tried to keep his tone light, but he was feeling anything but. Maybe she didn't like him like that and had misunderstood. It wouldn't have been the first time. His eyes drifted over to Kathleen and he gave her a small shrug, not knowing what to say. He was glad she wanted to smooth things over with Madelyn, but given the way things were going now, he didn't thing she would be up for another conversation. |
