Khalil was entirely invested in watching Kathleen play the game; she was good, he concluded, and it made sense considering just how much she loved this kind of nerdy stuff. A smile graced his lips, as he occasionally cheered out loud - but not too loud, he didn't want to disturb her concentration - and continued to be amazed at her gameplay. Was there anything she couldn't do??
As chance would have it, Khalil had turned his head in time to see Madelyn approach them. The smile that he had for Kathleen only grew once he saw Madelyn. "Hey," he said, silently appraising her dress, "I was gonna come find you." Once he told Kathleen, of course. He was going to invite Madelyn to hang around but then she started talking about interrupting their date?? Confused, Khalil tried to understand what she was talking about. Yes, technically, Kathleen was his date because she had specifically told him that he could only take her, which was fair. But, it wasn't, like, a date-date. Or, was it? He'd have to ask Kathleen later.
But Madelyn didn't give him a chance to actually explain all of that because she was walking away and the sixth year watched, in mild surprise, as she went and kissed Maddox. Huh. He had no idea Madelyn liked him too. Leaning down to plant a quick kiss on Kathleen's cheek, he made his way over to Maddox and Blakeney to figure out what Madelyn's deal was. "Bruh," he said, nudging Maddox, "what just happened? I didn't know you two were a thing. You should've told me, man." It wasn't like he wasn't going to find out anyway, and it was strange that Maddox hadn't mentioned it before. "Hey, Blakeney, you are looking exquisite" he greeted with a smiled, and turned his attention back at Madelyn. "Madelyn," he called out loudly - because with Khalil there was no such thing as an indoor voice - and shrugged at Maddox before making his way over to Madelyn. "What was all of that? Why did you leave so quickly?" |
