Not for the first time, relief was sharp but brief. A smile had made it to his mouth by the time they reached the edge of the forest, and when Levi turned to look at Clark, his body reacted reacted before his brain did. He did not jump so much as he stopped walking and dropped the arm he had around him--it, and stared.
Or rather, he would have been had someone not appeared behind him, gave explanations, offered a portkey, and smiled at him like they'd both just finished a particularly good cup of tea.
A dummy.
He'd risked his soul for a dummy.
For a few minutes, he gaped, the grip on his wand tightening until his knuckles were white.
When he grabbed the portkey, the boy did not attempt to hide his distaste and one second later, he was gone.
