Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler

The first year smiled as Abey sat down next to her. "Hi Abey!" She noticed he had gotten hot chocolate too, so did that mean it was okay to drink? Not that it was cool enough to try drinking yet; right now, Emmeline's hands were clasped around the cup to try to warm up further.

Derf entered the classroom shortly after Abey did, and Emmeline gave him a quiet greeting too with a smile. Quiet because she thought the professor would start talking soon, and also, Derf's presence had reminded her about the secret hags on staff. She scrunched her face up as she looked closely at Professor Newton, but she couldn't see any warts on the professor's face. Could hags hide them somewhere else? She had turned in the boys' direction, about to ask Derf, when Stasya had whispered a better question. Emmeline just wouldn't drink the stuff until they'd come to a consensus.

Now the professor was talking. Olivia immediately gave a great answer about creatures, which Emmeline wholeheartedly agreed with. Other people had good answers too, and of course Stasya's points coincided directly with the Gryffindor's thoughts on the subject.

Hmmm. She thought Mel's idea about bees was good, and she could kind of spring board off of what everyone else had said about creatures. She didn't usually answer questions in history lessons, because it was NOT her best subject. She hoped her answer would be okay.

Raising her hand, Emmeline smiled shyly up at the professor before giving her answer: "It's not just bees and creatures in general that need protection, but there are other endangered ones too. And some that get all crowded in certain areas, like dragons, because they need bigger and better sanctuaries to be really happy." The dragon thing was in one of the library books Emmeline had recently checked out, so she thought it was still correct. Anyway, dragons had HUUGE wing spans so she figured their sanctuaries should always be bigger so they could have as many babies as they wanted and all of the species could thrive. "Bigger sanctuaries would help make sure that all of the dragon species could have decent numbers, by having more babies." Baby dragons were important too.
