The deep, rattling breaths continued. It could sense something building up, something was getting stronger. Was that more happiness? Didn't matter, it was going to eat all of it up. The wand didn't deter the figure. It was now so focused on feeding on your happiness that it didn't care for the wand. The breathing got deeper as the figure moved closer. If it could just make some contact... if it could just start feasting on your soul...

And then, before it could move out of the way, there was a burst of energy. Happy energy. A bright white light hit the figure squarely on the cheek with so much force, the figure flew backwards and away from your person. It stopped and made another wild effort to fly towards you, possibly to try again, but the white light wasn't giving up that easily. It burst away from your wand and towards the figure, almost like a wild animal charging down its most vicious rival.

The figure, giving up, flew away from both humans and into the shadows of the trees. Your plan was a success.

But before you could gloat or punch the air in victory, the sound of a terrified young male reaches your ears. "Wh-what's going on? Where did that l-light c-come from?" There was a pause in which the male, whimpering, seemed to be looking you up, both scared and out of curiosity. "What... what are y-you holding?"
