Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler

The music drifting down the corridor was interesting, to say the least. Emmeline didn't think she'd heard any of the songs before, but then she hadn't been allowed to listen to Muggle music at home. Muggle Studies lessons had been a bit of a shock at first; Mum and Dad always made Muggles out to be little more than "filth", as they put it. Nanny, however, had taught Emmeline that Muggles could be nice and considered people too; Muggle Studies had so far made Emmeline think that Nanny had the right of it. Muggles were just people with no magic, and that made the first year feel sorry for them.

As she entered the classroom, she was a little amazed to see that the Muggle music wasn't coming out of a Wizarding wireless device. It was coming out of a metal square thing that looked like it had a screen of some sort attached. Weird. "G'morning Professor," Emmeline said as she moved further into the room. Why was it so cold in here?

Oh, right. Windows. It was too early in the morning for much of anything short of playing with creatures in Emmeline's opinion. Stifling a yawn, she moved towards a good seat. Emmeline pulled her bag onto her lap and extracted her Gryffindor scarf from inside. She was already shivering slightly in her robes -- she got cold easily, okay? Instead of putting the scarf around her neck, she spread the fabric out over her lap so that it acted as a kind of blanket. Then it was time to drag out her usual school supplies onto her desk and wait for the lesson to start. She smiled and waved at Mr. Henry, Abey, Sophie, Jessa, and Theo, but another yawn kept her from talking. Her seat was in talking-distance to most of them anyway; she'd picked a desk towards the front this time, because that was the farthest away from the windows that she could get.
