Entry 1: As Long as You're Mine
And so it begins: parenthood. As thrilled as one would be when given the starring role (or creature in this case), I was delighted to give my Augurey chick a name from the first musical I fell in love with. Fiyero is his name and dancing through life is his game. Fiyero and I engaged in a soothing singing session when I was on my free period today - Fiyero nibbled on insects and flies, whilst I did all of the singing. (I am the trained professional, so I don't blame him at all) He's smaller than I expected an Augurey chick to be, but I have never seen one so I'm not surprised that I was surprised. I'm going to look more into the history of this creature later and ask Mr Kennedy for some help with book suggestions - he's great. I really like him actually. (And you too, Professor Wayland)
Fiyero was a little more attached than I would hope for when I had to leave, he didn't want to go back in his cage. Not yet sure if this is my magic singing voice or just a calm presence. I hope he and Elphaba are getting along. Note to self: ask Olivia if she's been down to see her chick yet. Another note to self: get some lunch.

Entry 2: And helping you with your ascent..
..allows me to feel so parental, for I am a sentimental man.
I feel like Fiyero has tuned into the fact that Olivia and I are no longer together and at this point will never be again. He has this thing where he cries around me -- research says this is to signal rain, but it definitely did not rain on that day. I had this vision of us being a happy little family, but clearly that will not be the case. It'll be Fiyero and I against the world, very clearly. We'll take on university and whatever else the future throws at us.
Today I introduced Fiy (I call him that now) to his new home. I've been working on a bramble nest since I got my creature assignment. It's of similar shape and thickness to those that Augurey's build themselves in the wild, with the addition of a cage door for when we travel to home from Hogwarts and then to university. I want him to have a place that is his own, so he can grow and nurture himself as he's independent like that. I think I may be in love with my creature, definitely.
He's eating well and his wings are well in form. Flying seems easy for him now. It's hard to believe how little he was all those weeks ago.
