Raising Pavo SPOILER!!: Jobberknoll Entries Entry 1:
Today was the first meeting between myself and my Jobberknoll, Pavo. I noticed a distinct difference in appearance from a mature Jobberknoll and it's chick self. The adult Jobberknoll is a beautiful blue, with speckles and sleek feathers. However, the chick is tones of greys and a few spots of black on it's immature feathers, which resemble fuzz at this stage. The chick also appears to be 60% smaller than it will be once full grown, making it a very tiny creature!
Personality-wise, Pavo seems to be focused mainly on feeding and growing, and keeping himself warm in his nest within the cage. But he seems to trust me enough to allow me to feed him! I expect that he will grow quickly, as most birds tend to do who are well cared for. He didn't seem to mind too much, either, when I tended to his cage and nest.
Of course, Jobberknoll's are silent creatures for their lifetime, so Pavo was also very quiet. Perhaps this works to their advantage in the wild as well by keeping their chicks safe, and their adult selves safe while searching for insects. I'm also wondering if Pavo will be a very expressive bird, since his species is mute until the time of their deaths? Time will tell! Post 1 Entry 2: link to your relevant post in the school
