Default Traveling this week so this is a catch up. Sorry if I overlooked someone/something!
Wowza!

The Gryffindor table had become the sort of chaos that Levi reveled in simply because it meant he was not required to do nor say much. The Ilvermorny students seemed intent on leaving their mark today, and this was perfectly fine with the sixth year, for now; their need for music and noise seemed to be the type that could not be easily satisfied. They could be merry and free and whatever the hell else they felt like being; the Hogwarts castle and its secrets would probably, sooner rather than later, make one of its usual demonstrations to remind everyone just who--or what, really--ran the usual business in the Scottish highlands. He toyed with his food for a moment, before digging in, his head occasionally tilting to one side whenever one of the tunes coming from the boombox caught his attention.

"Hmm?" He said at Daisy, though his eyes had strayed to the Ilvermorny girl who'd addressed him before. "Oh, the song." He grinned, a little, the gesture only a touch unconsciously wolfish, even if his ears had reddened, a little bit. "The Spanish is too fast for me to get it. But I think I got a pretty good gist of it." Because he was an excellent friend, as far as he was concerned, Levi leaned in close and whispered it to Daisy.

Then he innocently went back to his food. The mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls and roast chicken were calling his name. In between bites and gulps of pumpkin juice, the boy watched with clinical interest as Abey Botros decided to express his disapproval for the music and general ruckus in ways that Levi found slightly over the top, but who was he to judge, really? Daisy seemed to be intent on protecting him, so he left them to their own devices, until his friend decided to take matters into her own hands and alert Myers.

Well.

"That seems extreme," He repeated again, not for the first time, and largely to himself.

Evidently, one of the Ilvermorny professors disagreed. The woman had come in, finalized the music and coddled Abey in the process. Levi was still of the firm belief that this was a little extreme, even if yelling across the hall to beckon someone over was also extreme, but he could admire competency when he saw it. And this professor was competent the same way Hirsch and Stewart and even Headmistress Hawthorne was. And like Healer Reed, of course, but the man was mostly in a separate league from the other three.

Distractedly, Levi wondered if the other Ilvermorny professor was the same.

But he went back to his food, anyway, his plate almost empty. Dessert seemed like a good idea, so he merely pushed his plate away and reached for the kind of chocolate cake he'd have probably not been permitted to have at home. Certainly not a slice as big as the one he was about to get. He'd just have to run some extra laps the next day when he went out for his usual morning run with his usual group of people. Levi was still debating just how many laps, exactly, he'd need when Regina Hawthorne decided to demand everyone's attention and the boy was left with no choice but to sit back and listen.

She really knew how to command a room. Was that skill learned or something you were born with?

What the woman went on to say wasn't news, exactly, scholarship aside; most of these she'd already said a month ago. But what was interesting was the book she held and how it seemingly was a sentient thing, flying around the room presumably doing--whatever it was it did other than choosing. What were the parameters? How could it get that from just hovering over their heads? He supposed this was one of the reasons why Merlin was the epitome of Wizardry but Levi found it hard to just take things as they came without any given explaantions. This was not the way his brain was wired. What had Merlin done for him, personally, that he was to trust him so much? Other than numerous achievements in numerous fields, of course.

The choosing ceremony began as faster than he'd expected it to, and Levi blinked against the white light and the runic letters that gave way to names. The Ilvermorny ones completely unrecognizable, the Hogwarts ones, save for one or two, largely less so. His very own was a blur of letters and shapes that took a moment to settle in and by the time it did, the book was gone and Headmistress Hawthorne was back on her seat.

Something was churning in his stomach, and his chest felt like it was either catching fire or was about to. The back of his neck was unbereably hot, or maybe it was just that ants, ridiculously enough, had decided to take residence there. Which would be completely ridiculous because Levi was sure that by the time the entire colony of ants made it to his neck, he'd be dead. He didn't think this was entirely weird, at all; after all, it was beginning to feel like it was only a little bit difficult to breathe.

Palms sweaty, he pushed his goblet away and loosened the red and gold tie that suddenly felt very heavy around his neck. But Levi smiled, showing all his teeth and dimples, the way he figured a proud, excited chosen one might. Then, quite calmly, stood up.

"Excuse me," He said, to no one and everyone. The boy reached up to loosen his tie somewhere, as if that'd make it easier for air to make it to his lungs. He heard himself say, mouth moving in autopilot, "Must use the loo." And slipped out of the great hall.
