Stasya totally understood why Jessa was so pale. As it was, Professor Vance’s statement to her had made her awfully quiet. None of the hippogriffs would ever kick her. It was almost insulting that the Divination professor would say something like that, and she didn’t want to think that any of the creatures would hurt her. It just didn’t make sense. Plus, she wasn’t going to stop going out the the barn either. Alone or otherwise, because Dobby was out there. She wasn’t going to abandon her squirrel just because the professor said she thought one of the hippogriffs was going to hurt her. Because she knew them. They liked her. And also, it wasn’t nice at all to say people’s sisters were in danger, or to say other people were going to be cursed.

It was enough to make her not feel like concentrating on the lesson. Plus, she didn’t see how moles could predict anything anyway...Did Derf say he had something for her back in his room? She thought she’d heard that, and she’d looked over at him distractedly to see he looked about as lost about the lesson as she was. Plus, Emmeline had said her nanny said Seers could be wrong. Between the birthday stuff and that statement, she was able to break free of her distraction more. And also, she believed Liv. Determining what a person was like just because of marks on their body was just wrong. People were who they were because of way more than just their appearance and making them think otherwise was mean. And also, like Derf said, people got moles removed so maybe it didn’t mean anything true.

I think you’re a Seer,” she whispered in Abey’s direction, hearing his whisper to Emmeline. If he said he was, she’d believe him. And Derf too, of course. She wasn’t entirely sure she felt like searching her body for moles though. She didn’t think she had any, anyway. She picked up the mirror again and checked, though. She just didn’t think it meant anything about her if she had any.
