Telling herself to push it away, she returned the snakettes smile with a warm one of her own before she got the tea, cups and chocolate biscuits ready on tray. Walking over to join Skylar, Laurel put the tea tray down before taking the chair opposite the girl. Leaning forwards to pour tea from the teapot into the two cups she asked "I hope you like Chamomile? I've got other tea sorts too."

Taking her cup in both hands Laurel leaned back in her chair as Skylar tried to explain her reasons for coming up on the staff dais. The answers just raised a number of new questions. "I see. You wanted to see who Mr. McLeod's replacement as Head of House was, but why didn't you just ask? Or better yet wait down at the snake table to hear it be announced in the Headmistress speech instead of embarrassing yourself and the house by making a scene on the dais and losing house points on the first night."
Raising her cup to her lips Laurel took a sip of tea which she swallowed down before asking. "Do you know what Amortentia is?" If she did then maybe that answered in part why Skylar had blabbed out that River smelled good, or not.
If there was one thing to be noted about her new head of house it was that she definitely seemed genuine in her actions. From when she poured the tea to providing chocolate biscuits to sitting in the chair opposite her, there was definitely something truthful about the woman. "Chamomile is great," Skylar said, appreciatively, raising the cup and taking a small sip. Which truthfully is probably all she would have, but politeness was of essence.

Sitting the cup back down on the tray, she listened as her professor posed more questions. Ugh, she should have known it would have led to more questions. Why did she not seem to understand the impulse and impatience of teenagers? Was Skylar going to have educate her? She'd been a teacher for three years, at least, so surely she would know. Or should know. "Yes, in retrospect, waiting would have been better, but sometimes you just have to act in the moment." And this one of those moments.

Wait, what? That question seemed kind of loaded. "It's a love potion, I know, but ... I've never smelled it, so I don't ..." bleh, what was she even asking? Or saying? River did smell good, but she didn't know that it was her love potion smell.
