She nodded at his thanks, and at his acknowledgement that this was a bit of a test. For both of them, at least. It was hard not to feel pressure when you bond with someone over a mutual interest. Not to feel like you had to be as good as them so they'd know you were serious and not just some girl in the apothecary hoping to score a cheap love potion, but also worthy of hanging with someone equally interested in that hobby.

More than a hobby. Potions was her passion.

They finally arrived at the lab, and Katy signed them into the book. "I solemnly swear not to injure your face. You [i]may[i] singe an eyebrow, but you won't have any lasting damage." Not that she agreed that the world couldn't survive without his face, but it would certainly be less pretty. Ahem. "Let's set up over here."
