Given all her puzzlement over the fire spell, plus the notes, Stasya had taken a second to realize that she’d forgotten to collect the other ingredients she actually was going to need for the potion. Just in case her tablemates didn’t want to share, or if they used everything they’d gotten. She wasn’t going to hold a grudge against them for it, since it was her own fault for not having collected the stuff before. Except, she did have to wait for her water to boil, so she used that time to go and collect her ingredients, aside from the tincture and pearl dust she still had at her station. She was just going toned to continue to pretend that there weren’t moth wings as part of the ingredients, as she returned to her cauldron to see her water boiling.
Time to add the berries, which was easy enough. So far it was just like cooking. She could do that, although usually she was just helping. Not doing it all by herself, even though she hadn’t forgotten the Slytherin who had helped her with the fire spell. But all he’d offered was to help her extinguish it later if she needed it, plus, as she looked over at him once, he looked like he was way further along than she was. She could do this. She knew that.
Well, except for the shrivelfig part, and her head had gone up when she heard Liv. “Can I have it?,” she asked, just checking. And she wasn’t against working together either. It wasn’t like she was really that far into it all yet. After finishing with the water, and lighting a small fire beneath her own cauldron, Olivia counted out the ingredients she'd need for the first few steps. FIVE juniper berries. ONE HALF of the shrivelfig. SIX cherries.... She hadn't been wearing protective gloves before, but slipped them on now, in order to hand the other half of her shrivelfig over. Stasya was a bit ahead of her with the potion, but Liv was keeping an eye on her, all the same. Half a shrivelfig for you, little missus! ......"Don't forget to squeeze the juice out." She assumed Stasya could read that in the Professor's notes, but she felt better pointing it out, anyway. Just in case there was an oversight. In her First Year, Liv had been too overeager to properly read out instructions. Soooo, you know, it wasn't a stretch of the imagination that others might struggle with the same issue.
Anyway....once her water began to boil, the Gryffindor quickly lowered the flame, adding five juniper berries in the next instant. You know, Juniper was one of her favorite names. There was a little Ravenclaw girl named Juniper... A+ naming game, really... Ahem, as she'd instructed Stasya to do, Olivia lifted her half of the shrivelfig and juiced it over the cauldron, before dropping the remains down into her brew.
She was doing okay thus far....right? No mistakes or missteps? Praised be. The color was on point; a lovely lilac color. Light purple, whatever... This Gryffindor was That Girl™️. She knew proper names for colors and what have you. When you lived that Fashion life, it was bound to happen.
Stirring next... Oh. "Does it matter what we used to stir? Wooden spoon? Crystal stirring rod?" With the define ingredients, Liv was going to assume it wouldn't matter too much, considering none of these materials were corrosive. Cherries could be mildly acidic, but... They wouldn't be enough to bother anything. Eh, a particular stirring rod hadn't been listed, so she was just going to use her preferred crystal one.
